Commission Music from Purple Planet

If you are interested in commissioning us to produce original music for your project, we have a range of options to suit all budgets.

In general, we specialise in composing fairly rapidly. The price guidelines below are based on 15 minutes of original music split into 10 separate cues. Of course, the prices will vary according to the complexity of the pieces required and your required timings, but the following should give you a clear guideline. Please note: we do not currently offer time-coded music.

These guidelines are for 15 minutes of original music. Terms for all options are 30% deposit two weeks prior to the commencement of work, by credit card, with delivery of the final masters (in wav or aiff format) immediately the balance of payment is received. We issue you with the appropriate licence documentation on receipt of payment. Please contact us with your specific requirements.

Package 1 - Exclusive Use, for higher budget projects

Booking us for a week to work on your project. For 15 minutes of music, around 5-7 days studio time is ideal. This gives you the opportunity to make suggestions and amendments along the way. The music production would be very slick, with the tracks being mastered externally in a studio with specific equipment suited for the job. For instance, mastering onto 1/4 inch analogue tape (before going back to digital format) and using vintage equipment that would really make the soundtrack stand out. For this option we'd set an all-in price of $1600 for the project. Obviously, you get unlimited rights to the music, it can be used in any manner you choose, and the date set aside for this work could be decided by you (i.e. we work around your schedule).

Package 2 – Exclusive Use, slightly more time constrained for tighter budgets

We would dedicate 2 days studio time plus half a day for your amendments. As we need to work around our premium clients we would probably need some say on the dates we are available. As with Package 1, you get unlimited rights. For this option we'd charge $800.

Package 3 - Non-Exclusive Use

For a super-tight budget, we can organise a mixture of material we already have 'in-hand', with some original material, and shape it into the track formats you need. However, in this instance, we would retain the rights to use the tracks ourselves for Production Music Libraries or other uses (though not the Purple Planet site), and there would be no real opportunity for you to make amendments. For this we'd charge $250. During the year, there are only certain dates on which we are available for these packages so we would need at least 3 months advance notice.

Surround Sound
