What can I use your music for?

Just about anything. It could be a personal, business or educational project/film. This includes youtube, commercial film or TV projects, blogs - just about any project where music is needed. Simply add a link to our site:

Can the music be used if I'm a member of the youtube partner programme?

Yes, but make sure you credit us in the information, as youtube are liable to disable the video otherwise

What can I not use your music for?

You cannot say that anyone else owns it, or the rights to use it, other than us – purple-planet.com. You cannot make it available for download or tell others that they can do so. You cannot resell it or redistribute it in any form aside from its part in your production.

Can I use your music for a commercial project?

Yes, though for a potentially revenue-geneerating project we ask for a small donation. Examples include, a radio or TV broadcast, intergration for a paid-for
app or computer game, inclusion on a commercail website, ie holiday company or realtor.

Who owns the copyright?

The copyright always remains with us, purple-planet.com, regardless of what type of licence it is used under. We wrote and performed the music; there are no potential copyright issues with anyone else if you use this music. For more informaiton on licensing, see the Licensing Information page.

Do you, or anyone else such as a Licensing Authority, need to know what the music has been used for?

No, none of our free collection is registered with a Performing Rights Society, but we are interested in your work and will take a look if it’s online. Send us a link!

It is impossible to credit you – what do I do?

For some applications we realise you may not be able to credit us, which would, technically, breach the terms of the licence. This would apply to a radio broadcast or other non-visual presentation. We therefore ask that you link to usin some other way e.g. through a blog or website. If this also is not possible we will provide you with a Non-Attribution Licence, on request. For this service we would ask for a small donation of $5 per project (it doesn’t matter how many pieces you use in the project). If you require a Non-Attribution Licence please contact us. Do you provide alternative mixes/versions of tracks?

If you would like an alternative mix or version of a track contact us here with your requirements. If we think it is do-able, we will make the changes and upload the file for approval. The finished track will be uploaded. For this service we ask for a fee of $25, payable in advance via PayPal. The original track on this site will not be changed.

Can I obtain tracks in different formats, e.g. as wave files?

We can provide wavs at a cost of $10 each.

Can I edit a piece?

Yes, you are welcome to change a piece’s length or edit it in any way you wish to fit your project.
